There is evidence of glass floats used by Norwegian Fishermen as early as 1844. Today most glass floats remaining in the ocean are stuck in a circular pattern of ocean currents. Occasionally storms or certain tidal conditions will break some floats from this pattern and wash them ashore.

Chalcedony is composed of the minerals quartz and moganite; the aqua color of each stone will vary slightly.
